From 21 January 2026, the TOEFL iBT is a shorter, adaptive test with new task types and a new score scale. Books, apps and mock tests made for the old format no longer match it.

Most institutions accept the TOEFL iBT. However, some — for example the University of Oxford — have said they won't accept scores from the new format for now. Always check your target institution's current requirements. We'll help you check during your level check.
